We are a global operator of essential infrastructure
This week, Redeia is taking part in the Festival of Ideas (Festival de las Ideas) with the same dedication that it brings to every part of the country: to make connections, engage in dialogue and add value.
Just as our transmission grids for electricity and telecommunications connect people and territories, they also provide opportunities for transformation and improvements to make a fairer, more sustainable and equitable future. Our commitment to our environment means that we are in constant dialogue with communities, listening to their inhabitants and offering solutions to the local and global challenges they face, whether it be climate change, the decline of biodiversity or social inequalities.
This is the positive impact that we hope to create in society. This vocation for service has recently inspired us to create our Comprehensive Impact Strategy, with the aim of multiplying our contribution to society and the environment in all territories and all business areas where our subsidiaries operate in Spain and Latin America.
To achieve this, we have created, among other figures, El Pensadere, a space for collective, creative deliberation consisting of company representatives and external experts, academics and opinion leaders, to think about innovative, effective solutions to the problems facing society. Through listening and dialogue, we will be able to engage in open debate about how we can and how we should use our networks and our connections to drive change towards a better world.
“The people who believe in utopias change the world”. Beatriz Corredor, Chairwoman of Redeia
So, in this first Festival of Ideas, we want ideas to flow in all directions, outwards from within and inwards from the exterior, to make us more connected than ever. The theme chosen for the festival is Connections, because we want to share and think about the importance of the networks that join us, connect us and make us into the best version of ourselves. This is the way in which the festival has joined us today to hold a meeting with El Pensadere. Physicist and poet Carlos Briones, champion of dialogue between science and the humanities, and Valerio Rocco, renowned philosopher and director of the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Circle of Fine Arts), have talked with us about the connections between individuals and systems from the perspective of science, philosophy and art.
