Collaboration agreement between Red Eléctrica and the Regional Government of Extremadura for the prevention and fighting of forest fires.

In 2014, Red Eléctrica collaborated with the Regional Government of Extremadura on a pilot test to use fire retardant products to prevent the spread of forest fires.

During the test, the outside part of an area with flora was irrigated with the blocking agent and then the rest of the area was set on fire using an accelerant. In the end, the test served to prove the overall effectiveness of the product in stopping the spread of fire, as the fire was extinguished without it going beyond the limit of the treated area.

The appropriate fire-fighting units and personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment and Energy were involved in the test.
