Platforms for the Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) in Andalusia

Increasing substrates for the breeding and rearing of the species as part of the Osprey reintroduction programme in Andalusia.

Results
  • Since 2011, breeding pairs have given birth to 24 chicks in nesting platforms installed on 2 power towers in the reservoir of Barbate in Cádiz. Also one of the pairs managed to fledge three chicks, which were reintroduced in 2012.
  • Installation of 3 nesting platforms on power towers, 2 in Cádiz and 1 in Huelva.
  • Ringing of 3 chicks on the platform at the Barbate reservoir (Cadiz).
