Work consisted of the production of audiovisual materials for the informative campaign called "El Bosc Vital".

Within the fire prevention strategy that the Environmental Service of the Government of Navarra undertakes in the basins of the Cantabrian slopes of Bidasoa and Urumea, during 2016 collaboration took place on preventive measures for the selective clearing of land in the area that the section of the Atlantic Region is undertaking.

Selective clearing of land has been carried out in different catalogued highlands of the Bidasoa and Urumea basins. These clearings are intended to contribute to and/or strengthen the work dynamics being undertaken in the Atlantic Region regarding the planning and effectiveness of controlled burns in winter. Therefore, the objectives of these clearings are:

• Fire prevention and the creation of bands for the execution of controlled burning.
• Consolidation of the improvement of forage supply.
• Conservation of natural regeneration by improving forage supply.
• The undertaking of land clearing of small high-risk areas

Supply of 39 individual sets of protective equipment for personnel hired for the winter forest firefighting campaign of the Government of Navarra.

Third edition of the Technical Working Days on Forest Fires that took place on 16 and 17 November in Toledo, organised by the Regional Government of Castilla La Mancha, the Fundación Pau Costa and Red Eléctrica.

In this edition, the Working Days have focussed the debate on the New Technologies in the Management of the Phenomenon of Forest Fires, an area that opens new challenges and great possibilities in cartography, remote detection, health, safety, simulations or training of the teams. It has also served to highlight the interest that this collaborative forum has caused among professionals of the sector and which has helped to consolidate these Working Days, in its third edition, as a reference of national interest for the people in the sector and other operators who take part in it.

About 500 people participated in the seminar in person, plus another 2000 by means of its online format, which indicates the interest of the sector for training on matters which have an impact on them.

Thus, this debate forum, which was carried out over two days in the Regional Administration School, brings together in Toledo professionals in the field of the prevention and fightfighting of forest fires from all over Spain and a significant group of national and international speakers.

Collaboration with the Government of the Balearic Islands and the AEVAB association (Business association for the renting of vehicles, with and without driver, in the Balearic Islands) on the design of a sticker regarding forest fire prevention, to be put on the glove compartment of the rental car, and a brochure to be distributed throughout the various rental offices with content on the prevention of forest fires.

During 2016, the stickers and brochure were designed and during 2017 the initiative will be launched covering four islands and a fleet of 25,000 vehicles that, on average, change renter every week for 6 months, i.e. the campaign will reach at least 600,000 people.

The Head of Forest Fire Fighting course was carried out by 44 firefighting experts from the Regional Government of Extremadura and 23 people from the Forestry Service of the Provincial Council of Vizcaya, Basalan (a state-owned company) and from the Fire Service of the Provincial Council of Vizcaya.

The course was structured on the execution of a series of exercises and drills based on practical assumptions of different situations related to forest fires, where the participants of the course had to carry out different duties & functions as part of the command staff and included in the organisational workflow process of an ICS (Incidental Command System for the management of forest fire emergency situations) in a virtual reality environment, creating very realistic working conditions that influence on the active participation of the students.

Carry out an awareness campaign for the prevention of forest fires targeted at school students, farmers and companies & contractors who provide maintenance of facilities. During 2016, all the necessary resources for the campaign have been developed and during 2017 the campaign will be extensively implemented by means courses, training days, awareness talks, competitions, school activities in rural and urban areas and by facilitating all the necessary contents.
