The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of August, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, increased 0.1% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand for the month was 20,235 GWh, a value 1.8% below the figure for August 2013.
In the first eight months of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 0.1% up on last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 162,345 GWh, 1.4% down on the same period in 2013.

Production coming from wind power during the month reached 2,708 GWh, 14.6% down on the same period last year, and represented 14% of the total production.
In the month of August, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 34.6% of production.
52.9% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
