Red Eléctrica and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid award ten grants for postgraduate studies
The Chairman of Red Eléctrica de España, José Folgado, and the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), José M. Sanz, have today presented the postgraduate study grants to 10 students from this university, in accordance with the specific agreement signed between both institutions last November.

Through this agreement, Red Eléctrica has taken part in the co-financing of 10 grants with a financial contribution of 40,000 euros for postgraduate studies determined by the Company within the Master and Doctorate official curriculum of the University's 2012-2013 academic year.

The ten students from the Madrid University, beneficiaries of this aid, will attend the Masters in Ecology; Energy and Fuels for the Future; MBA Business Administration; Accounting, Auditing and its Effects on Capital Markets; and Computer Engineering and Telecommunications.

During the ceremony José Folgado highlighted that "progress requires generating innovation and development. Increasing ties between universities and business companies is undoubtedly a factor of progress for society." For Mr. Folgado it is "a satisfaction to award these grants because collaboration between business companies and the University is always an investment in the future". "As Chairman of Red Eléctrica, I want to increase this collaboration in the coming years", he added.

The beneficiaries of the grants were selected by a committee composed of the UAM and Red Eléctrica in accordance with the advertising and competitive bidding scheme established in the offer for aid for postgraduate study programmes.

The grants that have been delivered today complete one of the projects of the framework agreement signed between Red Eléctrica and the UAM whereby both institutions undertake to carry out training actions aimed at developing on the reality of today's business world, the dissemination of knowledge regarding electricity systems and the promotion of sustainable development, as well as other activities and projects geared towards research and cooperation.
