Red Eléctrica’s Board of Directors yesterday accepted the resignation of Francisco Javier Salas Collantes as independent board member due to the incompatibility of carrying out this role both in the Spanish electricity system operator (Red Eléctrica) and in an electricity generation company (Abengoa Solar) at the same time.

This incompatibility arises from the coming into force of Royal Decree Law 13/2012 which transposes Directive 2009/72/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 13 July 2009 regarding the rules for the internal electricity market.
