The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula was 19,877 GWh in the month of April, representing an increase of 5.5% with respect to the same month last year. Factoring in the effects of seasonal and working patterns, the adjusted demand grew 5.8%.
In the first four months of the year, electricity consumption reached 87,980 GWh, 4.8% more than in the same period in 2009. Factoring in the effects of seasonal and working patterns, the adjusted demand for this four-month period showed an increase of 3.6%.

During April, generation originating from renewable energy sources, including hydroelectric, solar and wind power production, reached 38.7% of the total production as compared to 29.2% in the same month last year. Wind power production in April represented 13.2% of the total production.
In the first four months of the year, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented over 40% of the total production.
