The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in May, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, dropped 1.9% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand was 19,504 GWh, 3.4% lower than in May 2012.
In the first five months of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 2.9% below that registered last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period was 103,587 GWh, 3.2% less than the same period in 2012.

Production coming from wind power in May reached 4,011 GWh, 8.2% higher than the same period last year, and represented 20.2% of the total production.
In the month of May, generation from renewable energy sources reached an all-time record representing 47.9% of production.
65.9% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
