Demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of February has been estimated at 20,174 GWh, a value 5.2% lower than that registered in the same month last year. Even after having factored in the influence of seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand fell by 2% compared to February 2018.

In the first two months of 2019, the demand for electricity on the Spanish peninsula is estimated at 43,426 GWh, 1% less than in the same period in 2017. After factoring in the influence of seasonal and working patterns, the demand for electricity was 0.7% less than in the same period last year.

With information available as at the time of this press release, wind energy generation in February reached 3,619 GWh, 21.9% less than in the same period last year, and represented 18.5% of total production.

During the month of February and according to estimated data, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 37.6% of the total production.

62.7% of electricity generation produced during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO₂ emissions.
