Investment of 3.4 million euros
Red Eléctrica commissions a new reactor in the Soto de Ribera substation

Red Eléctrica de España has commissioned a new reactor in the 400/220-kilovolt (kV) Soto de Ribera substation in order to help maintain voltage stability of the transmission grid within the appropriate parameters.

The installation of this reactor, in which the Company has invested 3.4 million euros, is one of the actions included in the 2015-2020 Electricity Infrastructure Planning, approved by the central government.

The reactor, with a nominal reactive power rating of 150 megavolt-amperes and whose dimensions are 7.6 x 3.45 x 4.1 meters (length x width x height) and weighs 103 tonnes, was brought into service in June of this year.

The Soto de Ribera substation is located in the municipality of Ribera de Arriba. The reactor arrived from Turkey at the port of El Musel in Gijón in March and its assembly in the substation’s 400-kV switchyard was concluded in May.
