Demand for electrical energy increases 5.7% in April

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of April is estimated at 19,902 GWh, a value 5.7% up on that registered in the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula increased 2.4% compared to April 2017.

In the first four months of 2018, the demand for electricity on the Spanish Peninsula is estimated at 85,906 GWh, a value 3.5% higher than in 2017. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, demand for electricity grew 2.1% compared to the same period last year.

 

With data available on the date of this press release, generation coming from wind power in the month of April reached 4,439 GWh, 6.3% higher than the same month last year, and represented 22.6% of total production.

In the month of April, according to estimated data, 53.2% of total production came from renewable energy sources.

74.6% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
