The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of March is estimated at 22,111 GWh, a value 4.7% up on than that registered in the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula increased 5.1% compared to March 2017.
In the first quarter of the year, the demand for electricity on the Spanish Peninsula is estimated at 66,020 GWh, a value 2.9% higher than in the same quarter in 2017. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, demand for electricity increased 2% compared to the previous year.
With data available on date of this press release, generation coming from wind power in the first 28 days of March reached 6,937 GWh, a value 62.7% higher than that registered in the same period last year, representing 32.9% of total production.
To date, according to estimated data, 56.6% of total production came from renewable energy sources.
77.7% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
