Redeia achieves the highest rating in AENOR's Corporate Governance certification and becomes the first company to have its ethical channel certified
  • The certification process evaluated seven key variables and 180 indicators, highlighting the composition and operation of the Board of Directors, its remuneration, and its transparency
  • Redeia has also become the first company to have its ethical channel certified under the ISO 37002 standard by AENOR, demonstrating its commitment to protecting its employees and other stakeholders

AENOR has awarded Redeia, a global operator of essential electricity and telecommunications infrastructure, the highest rating (‘G++’) in the Good Corporate Governance Index 2.0 certification. This achievement reflects the company's rigorous and long-term commitment to this field. This certification allows Redeia to demonstrate its outstanding performance to its key stakeholders, such as investors, proxy advisors, customers, employees, regulators, and society at large.

Additionally, AENOR has certified Redeia's ethical and compliance channel under the UNE-ISO 37002 standard for 'Whistleblowing management systems.' This standard provides guidance on establishing and managing an effective whistleblowing system within the organisation.

Beatriz Corredor, Chairwoman of Redeia, stated, 'The highest rating in the Corporate Governance certification demonstrates Redeia’s firm commitment to voluntarily implementing the best principles and practices of good governance, in line with the most advanced national and international recommendations. A solid and transparent Corporate Governance model is the foundation for the sustainability of our business.' She added, 'The certification of the ethical channel represents a key qualitative leap in our integrity model. The public and essential nature of the services we provide to society entails a responsibility that requires the utmost integrity in fulfilling our obligations and commitments.'

Rafael García Meiro, CEO of AENOR, stated, 'Redeia has demonstrated its commitment to the values demanded by today’s society by achieving this dual certification from AENOR. The trust it builds with stakeholders by adhering to the highest standards of good governance—and being the first company to certify its ethical channel—positions Redeia as a benchmark in the electricity supply and connectivity market.'

Good Governance, a synonym for commitment

During the certification process for the Corporate Governance Index, AENOR, a leader in building trust, reviewed seven variables related to the composition, operation, competencies, and remuneration of the Board of Directors, among others. It also assessed matters related to the General Shareholders’ Meeting, transparency, compliance, and other governance aspects.

The methodology analyses 180 indicators grouped into blocks, assigning a score to each. Points are accumulated as indicators are met, with each variable capable of reaching a maximum of 150 points in the certification.

This certification confirms that Redeia is committed to developing the appropriate governance structure to correctly implement good governance practices. AENOR assessed several aspects positively. It included the complete separation of roles between the non-executive Chairwoman of the Board and the CEO, while maintaining the position of the lead independent director, despite it not being mandatory for Redeia. Likewise, it highlighted the full gender parity on the Board, with six women representing 50% of its members. It also emphasised the transparency and quality of the information published in the Annual Corporate Governance Report, which includes both voluntary disclosure by the company and information required by the Spanish National Securities Market Commission.

Ethical channel

The certification of the ethical channel demonstrates Redeia’s commitment to creating a safe and trustworthy environment for reporting irregularities, ensuring whistleblower protection and information confidentiality. A key aspect of this certification is the implementation of clear policies and procedures that facilitate reporting and follow-up on complaints, ensuring an appropriate and timely response.
