We are a global operator of essential infrastructure
Both entities have signed an agreement that includes measures to bring the advantages of sustainable mobility and energy efficiency to those living in rural areas.
Red Eléctrica de España, transmission agent and operator of the electricity system in our country, and the Federación Aragonesa de Municipios, Comarcas y Provincias (FAMCP, the Aragon Federation of Municipalities, Counties and Provinces) are intensifying their collaboration to start up actions intended to encourage sustainable mobility, improve energy efficiency and the development of renewable energies in the region.
Red Eléctrica de España's manager of Sustainability Area, Antonio Calvo, and the president of the Federación Aragonesa de Municipios, Comarcas y Provincias (FAMCP), Luis Zubieta, have signed a collaboration agreement for local development that will allow both entities to strengthen the cooperation they have been sharing since 2018, which now takes the form of four lines of action.
- Guidance and advice to encourage electrical mobility in the interior of Aragon and raising awareness of the advantages of this type of mobility.
- Reduce the digital divide and promote access to broadband in rural areas close to the transmission grid, making them more attractive places to live and work.
- Support for local innovation with measures to encourage entrepreneurs and to respond to the specific needs of the rural economy.
- Promote the new model of energy transition through initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases.
The first actions to be taken under this agreement will be those related with the advice for installing charging points for electric vehicles and raising awareness of the advantages for the general public, including the rural population, in accordance with the objectives included in the European Commission's White Paper on Transport.
Another action is to explain the current regulations and the subsidies available for promoting access to electric vehicles. The guidance for municipal authorities will also include the facilities and infrastructures that will increase the level of efficiency and energy savings, self-sufficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
