Collaboration with local government for recovery and improvement of green spaces.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with local communities where its facilities are located through actions for conservation of their natural environment, with the aim of promoting sustainable rural development and biodiversity conservation.

Red Eléctrica has been collaborating with Mequinenza Town Council since 2017 on conditioning the part in the province of Aragon of Aiguabarreig, a natural space classed as a Special Bird Protection Area (ZEPA from its initials in Spanish), as well as on providing it with a bird observatory.

The work involves the clearing of an area of 1,000 m² of the reed thickets the birds use to breed, as well as cropping these plants in the channels. Sediments will also be removed in areas where clogging processes have been detected.
