Improvement of the habitat of the Soprano Pipistrelle bat (Pipistrelus pygmaeus)

Programme for the installation of refuge boxes for bats as a measure to provide them with shelters due to the disappearance of their regular shelters as a result of the removal or death of mature trees and/or removal of abandoned human constructions.

Results
  • Installation of 61 nesting boxes for the Soprano Pipistrelle bat in electricity transmission towers and in trees in river basin and wooded areas.
  • 30% occupancy of the boxes installed in electricity transmission towers against occupancy of around 10% in trees, the largest occupation in the summer months compared to winter.
